Open Advocacy Board Position! The Advocacy Chair is the link between PTA Policy Priorities at the state and national levels, and the concerns of your local board and members. This flexible position requires no legislative experience as the state PTA provides training and tools, just a desire to get involved and be informed on behalf of our children and families. This position informs the board and broader membership about current issues in education and is provided with tools from the state PTA to help PTA members become effective advocates for change. It also attends a monthly Building and Leadership Team meeting with school leaders as our PTA representative. If you are interested or would like to learn more, please contact Birgit at presidents@lawtonelementary.org. |
PTA Board – Looking for Advocacy Volunteer
PTA Fundraising: Direct Drive!
Lawton’s biggest annual fundraiser kicks off today! Funds raised ensure that all kids and families in our school community are able to continue to grow and learn together.
Your support is critical to continue funding programs and essential needs, including arts and science programs, technology licenses, and recess & lunch monitoring staff – all things that are not fully funded by the district.
This year’s ask is $450 per child. For a break-down of funding, and why we ask for your support, visit the Direct Drive website.Â
We understand that this is a big ask, and if you are unable to contribute financially, we ask that you still get involved in the Direct Drive by choosing “Participate Only” on the fundraising website to register support for your child’s classroom and be entered in our weekly raffles.
Participate Now!
Class Prizes
We have a goal of 100% participation this year and there are great incentives for kids and adults! Each class to reach 100% participation will receive a small individual prize and an extra recess, plus the first 2 classes to reach this goal will have a popsicle party!
Participation Prizes
We also have a great collection of prizes to be awarded through our weekly Direct Drive raffle, courtesy of some of the wonderful businesses in our community! You will be automatically entered into the raffle when you step through the Participate Now flow on the Direct Drive site (financial contribution not required).
Special Award Categories
Participate early for a chance to win some of our biggest prizes – we have special drawings for our first 50 participants, followed by our first 100 participants. Raffles for prizes are cumulative, so the earlier you participate the better your chances of winning!
Prizes this year include, but are not limited to:
- SubPop Records gift box set (including Mudhoney, Father John Misty, and Fleet Foxes vinyl collectibles)
- Pagliacci Pizza gift card
- 4 tickets to Woodland Park Zoo
- A book and gift card from Magnolia Bookstore
- And more!
Thank you for your continued support in making Lawton the best place for our kids!
2023-2024 Approved Lawton PTA Budget
The Lawton PTA knows the importance of transparency when it comes to the budget. It’s important for families to know where their money goes when they donate to the PTA through the Direct Drive and other fundraisers. Please feel free to review the approved budget below.
Also – a reminder that all PTA members are allowed to have an input and vote on the PTA budget. Each year we have a general meeting to review the proposed budget and vote. Be sure to join the PTA to have your voice heard!
Lawton Movie Night
Mark your calendars! Lawton’s second Movie Night is coming up on October 20, from 5-7pm. Students voted on the movie – and the winner is… Drum roll… Super Mario Bros!
Please note that this is not a drop off event! Kids can bring blankets, stuffies, or wear pajamas to make themselves comfortable.
There will be food trucks, so dinner is taken care of. For the latest news on this event, check the Facebook event page.
We’re always glad to have help at these events if you’d like to volunteer.
Fall Festival
Lawton PTA invites your family to celebrate with us at our annual Fall Festival on Friday November 3,

We hope to see you there!

And while you’re there, your child gets a free class! Sign up quickly, these positions are only available on a first come first served basis.
Volunteers are needed for the following time slots:
Monday: 2:15pm-4:15pm
Tuesday: 2:15pm-3:45pm
Wednesday: 1:00pm-3:00pm
Thursday: 2:15pm-3:45pm
Volunteers need to be SPS-approved [https://www.seattleschools.org/departments/volunteer/].
