FAQs

This year’s theme is Make a Splash!

We’ll share more inspiration as the event gets closer, but dressing to the theme is completely optional. Come however you’re comfortable and ready to have a great night.

We’re aiming to raise $100,000 for Lawton Elementary through ticket sales, sponsorships, auction purchases, Fund-a-Need giving, and donations.

The auction raises funds that help provide programs, resources, and experiences for Lawton students beyond what the regular school budget can cover.

It’s also one of our biggest opportunities to bring the Lawton parent community together and have some fun while supporting our school.

Expect a fun night with the Lawton community, including food and drinks, silent and live auction items, Fund-a-Need, and plenty of time to spend with other Lawton parents and friends.

The auction is an adults-only event for the Lawton community and its guests.

You don’t need to be a current Lawton parent to join us. Grandparents, friends, neighbors, alumni families, and other Lawton supporters are welcome.

Absolutely. The auction is one of the best opportunities to meet other Lawton parents and caregivers.

Come with a group, bring a friend, or come on your own. We want everyone in the Lawton community to feel welcome.

Absolutely not.

We want this to be a community event first. Come enjoy the evening whether you plan to bid, donate, or simply spend time with other Lawton families. There will be opportunities to participate and give at a range of levels, but spending beyond the cost of your ticket is never required.

Expect a mix of fun items and experiences, including local restaurants and businesses, family activities, travel and vacation opportunities, special Lawton experiences, parent-hosted parties, and more.

Some items will be available through the silent auction, while others will be offered during the live auction.

Silent auction items are available for bidding during a set period. You can keep an eye on your favorites and bid until the auction closes.

Live auction items are offered during the event and auctioned in real time.

This year, our Fund-a-Need will help purchase new water fountains and bottle-filling stations for Lawton Elementary.

During the auction, families will have an opportunity to raise their paddles and make a direct donation toward this project. There’s no item to win. Every contribution helps us get closer to improving access to water for Lawton students throughout the school.

Not at all. Attend, volunteer, donate, sponsor, participate in Fund-a-Need, or simply enjoy the evening.

There are lots of ways to be part of the auction.

Yes! You can still support the auction by donating an item or experience, sponsoring the event, participating in eligible online bidding, or making a direct contribution.

Lots of things can make great auction items. Some ideas include:

  • Restaurant gift cards
  • Vacation homes or weekend stays
  • Sports, theater, or concert tickets
  • Kids’ activities and camps
  • Wine, food, or dining experiences
  • Professional services
  • Unique merchandise
  • Special access or experiences you can’t normally buy
  • Parent-hosted parties and gatherings

If you have an idea but aren’t sure whether it will work, send it our way.

Yes! Business donations and corporate support are a great way to help the auction.

If your employer offers charitable giving or matching gifts, it’s also worth checking whether your contribution may qualify.

Yes. We welcome businesses interested in supporting the Lawton Auction through sponsorship.

It’s a great way for local businesses and Lawton-connected companies to support our school while connecting with the Lawton community.

Definitely.

Start with businesses where you already have a connection: your favorite neighborhood restaurant, shop, gym, salon, kids’ activity, or professional contact. A simple personal request explaining that you’re helping raise money for Lawton can go a long way.

Yes! Parent-hosted experiences can be some of the most fun auction items because they raise money while building community.

Think kids’ parties, dinners, cocktail parties, classes, outdoor adventures, sporting events, neighborhood gatherings, or something unique you’d enjoy hosting.

Yes!

There are opportunities to help both before the auction and on the night of the event. Whether you have lots of time or can only give a few hours, we’d love the help.

No auction experience is required.

Tax treatment can depend on whether you receive goods or services in exchange for your payment. Your auction receipt will provide relevant purchase information. For questions about your individual tax situation, please consult a tax professional.

Auction proceeds support Lawton Elementary through the PTA, helping fund programs, resources, and experiences that benefit Lawton students.

This year, we’re working together toward a $100,000 fundraising goal.

Watch for updates through Lawton PTA and auction communications. We’ll share ticket information, bidding instructions, volunteer opportunities, donation details, and other important updates as we get closer to the event.
