Lawton 4th Grade Used Sneaker Community Service Collection

shoes

Our goal is to collect and recycle or reuse 1,000 pairs of sneakers this year!  Please bring your old athletic shoes and place them in the blue bin at the entrance to the school.

Sneakers do not decompose in environmentally friendly ways. They clog landfills, leach chemicals into our soil, and take 40 years to break down. Your donated sneakers will be recycled or reused.

Boots, dress shoes, sandals, cleats, and other footwear are not accepted. Please only donate sneakers, ie Vans, Nike, Adidas, Brooks, Converse.  Thank you!

Free Enrichment Classes!

Earn a free enrichment class for your child. We are in need of on-site volunteers while the enrichment classes are running. This is a very easy volunteer position: You are there to help the providers and teachers to make sure the kids get to their classes and get picked up by their parents or caretakers.

And while you’re there, your child gets a free class! Sign up quickly, these positions are only available on a first come, first served basis.

Volunteers are needed for the following time slots:

Monday: 2:15pm-4:15pm
Tuesday: 2:15pm-3:45pm
Wednesday: 1:00pm-3:00pm
Thursday: 2:15pm-4:15pm

Volunteers need to be SPS-approved.

If you’d like to volunteer or have any questions, please contact afterschoolprograms@lawtonelementary.org.

Lawton Picture Days – September 25th and 27th

All students will be photographed for school files and the yearbook-so dress your best.

Solid colors in medium to dark tones photograph well.

Avoid neon and busy prints-they draw attention away from the subject.

A note about glasses: glasses with anti-glare are recommended.  We work really hard to avoid glare but some glasses make it impossible.  AVOID glasses that do not have anti-glare coating, sapphire coating (reflects blue/purple) and Transition glasses (they photograph like sunglasses in many cases).  If you have any of these, consider removing your glasses for the photo.

You may preorder your photos online here:

(This preorder link closes on 9/29.)

If the preorder link has expired you will need to wait until the images are posted into the online gallery-about 3 weeks after picture day.

Or buy scanning the QR2 code with your mobile device:

Each student needs a separate order form.

Or you may choose to wait and see your student’s photo in the online gallery after picture day and order there.  They will be shipped directly to your home. Please note due to individually handling of later orders they will be a slightly higher price point as well as shipping fee.  Packages A-F will not be available after Picture Day.

Each student photographed will receive an envelope with a reorder sheet that has a proof print, a link to the online gallery and a password to access the gallery and prints if ordered.
