I hope everyone had an enjoyable short break last week! It was so wonderful to see families attending conferences with our staff last week, and our goal with conferences is open the door to really impactful two-way communication about all of our students over the course of the year. We have 1 week left in the first trimester of this school year, and then teachers will create progress reports in December that you will be able to view on the Source after Dec. 18.

Our PTA is the heart of our school community, and provides support for students during the school day AND engaging events for families in the evenings. Wanted: family members to serve on a Lawton Family Focus Group in January
This year the Lawton staff is part of an “early adopter” program that Seattle Public Schools has created to develop schools and classrooms that really engage and meet the needs of all learners, from those approaching grade level to those students who are well above. Our staff are receiving training and support on early release Wednesdays, and in addition, the program relies on getting insights and feedback on how Lawton is currently serving the needs of all of our learners from students and families, so we know which practices to grow and develop.
The trainer from the program will be at Lawton on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 to run Focus groups of staff, students and families – if you would like to be in the family focus group that is scheduled for 12:20-1:05 (right before early release pick up) here at Lawton on 1/3/24, please reach out to me by email or in person. I’d love to have diverse voices from all grade levels and backgrounds join the session!
Upcoming Events
Join us for Lawton PTA’s Kindergarten Social, December 5 from 6-7 PM in the Commons
We will be doing fun winter crafts, meeting other kindergarten families, and snacking on cookies and milk. This event is for kindergarten families, siblings welcome.
