A friendly reminder that today is a one-hour early release – students dismissed at 1:25pm.
We wish you and yours a safe and joyful Winter Break – with plenty of time to relax and enjoy the people you love. We will look forward to welcoming students back to school on Tuesday, January 3rd.
Covid Tests Available at Pick Up Today
Reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19 over break by testing if you feel sick, testing before attending large gatherings, and testing after any exposure. We will put a supply of rapid antigen tests on top of the lost and found rack in front of the building for those wanting to take a box home for break.
Bingo Night – Jan 19th

3rd – 5th Grade Bike Unit – January 5th
The 3rd – 5th Grade Bike Unit Starts January 5th
The Lawton PE bike and pedestrian safety unit for grades 3-5 will begin after winter break and run for most of January (January 5-25). This unit assumes most students know how to ride a bike but teaches learn-to-ride skills to students who need them. To prepare for this unit, please:

Bring your helmet to school if you have one (properly fitted and marked with your name) but leave your bike at home
Dress for the weather (e.g., gloves, clothes that can get wet and dirty) so that we can ride

The Lawton PTA is continuing to partner with 6Crickets to bring students a variety of classes. Registration opens Wednesday, December 14th at 10am. The Winter session runs Monday, January 9th through Friday, April 7th.
Check out the Lawton ASE portal to see the schedule, class descriptions, and fees. Spaces are limited and will be available first come, first serve. Contact afterschoolprograms@lawtonelementary.org with questions.
Scholarships are available for families in need. Send scholarship requests to kmcerise@seattleschools.org (be sure to include your first and second choice clubs).
Holiday Cookie Drive For Lawton Teachers
No matter how the cookie crumbles, we have the best teachers around!

As we enter the last week before break, let’s work together to finish strong and healthy despite respiratory illness season being here. Please keep students home when sick, following Department of Health guidance on when students are healthy enough to return to school.

Please support our fourth-grade community service project by donating your used sneakers. Sneakers get recycled or reused to keep them out
COVID Booster Clinic Monday, December 12th from 2:30 – 4pm
We are excited to have a mini vaccine clinic at Lawton for Flu and Covid-Boosters! Monday, December 12th from 2:30 – 4pm

We’re entering a busy month with several school-based initiatives you may want to support. Please read below for information on community giving, a fourth-grade service project, a Spirit Wear collection effort, and a booster clinic.

Got Sneakers? Fourth Grade Fundraiser
Please support our fourth-grade community service project at Lawton Elementary School by donating your used sneakers! It is a win-win-win! YOU get to clean clutter and smelly kicks from your closets; sneakers get recycled or reused to keep their toxic chemicals out of landfills, and money earned supports our pen pals at the Balo English Medium School which serves the children with the fewest opportunities from preschool – 12th grade in Kolkata, India.
Our goal is to collect over 1,000 pairs of sneakers (sorry, no boots or sandals)! We can do it together!

Friday Sept 11 is our first School Spirit Day of the new school year! September’s theme is Lawton Dolphins! 🐬 Show your Lawton pride by wearing our school colors (blue, teal, green), blue tie dye, your favorite Lawton merch, or some fun dolphin gear!
We’ve hit 25% ($30k) of our Direct Drive fundraising goal! 🥳 Our kids have earned a Pajama & Stuffed Animal Day at school - details to come! 🙏 A GIANT high-five and a mega THANK YOU to everyone who has already donated! You are absolutely amazing! ⏳ We only have a couple of weeks left to smash our grand total goal of $130,000, so let’s keep the momentum going! 🚀 Pro Tip: Don’t forget to check if your employer offers a company match! We are SO back, Dolphins! 🐬 School is in and our PTA has already launched our 2026-2027 Direct Drive to fund this year’s budget! 60% of our annual budget covers staff salaries, including front office staff, recess and lunch monitors, and academic interventionists for all grade levels.
