Thank you for sharing your students with us for another great week of remote learning. Last Friday’s whole school library and packet pick up day was a success. Students now have library books for the next month as well as musical instruments for applying their new music knowledge at home!
This week, Lawton 5th graders Talia Wilson and Naomi Haddad were featured in a Seattle Times article. Inviting and amplifying student voice is a key feature of the work our teachers put into designing engaging instruction for students across content areas.
While your students are enjoying a well-deserved day off today, teachers at Lawton are spending time learning from Dr. Doug Fisher – an educational expert in the area of distance learning – so that they can develop sustainable, high-quality teaching and learning experiences for all students.
Preparing for Veterans Day Assembly – Submit Pictures by October 23
We are preparing for our Veterans Assembly on November 6th and need your help. Part of the assembly will include personal connections and gratitude for Veterans within our community. If you have a Veteran you would like to honor, please send a picture to Ms. Lewis at jrlewis@seattleschools.org. Please include your student’s name, Veteran’s name, and branch of military in which they served.
This picture you send can be: a photo of your student and the Veteran; a photo of your student holding a photo of the Veteran; a drawing your student did to honor the Veteran; or any other picture that celebrates this person and their connection to our community. Please submit photos and requested information by October 23rd.
Spirit Day Swap – Marvelous Masks on November 6th
Some of our students wisely pointed out that “silly sock day” is tough to celebrate over the computer. While you are still welcome to wear your silly socks, we also invite you to wear Marvelous Masks for the next Spirt Day on Friday, November 6th.
Dolphin Dreams
We have entered the second week of Dolphin Dreams Direct Drive. Thank you to the families who have participated already! You make a difference! If you haven’t had a chance yet, please consider supporting our community by participating online.
ALL classrooms that reach 100% participation will get a special treat, but the first class to reach 100% will receive a bonus prize of a popsicle delivery! Financial contribution is not required to count toward participation but is tremendously appreciated.
