Lawton Families – This is the last Family Newsletter for this school year – please remember that tomorrow is a holiday with no school, and on Friday we release 1 hour early at 1:25pm!
Paper report cards come home June 21, and you can also view progress reports and spring assessment results on the Source in July.
Lost and Found will be donated the last day of school!
Poster for Lawton Family Outdoor Work Party 6.2024.pdf on Sunday, June 30th, from 9am to 1pm. Let’s come together to weed, prune, and beautify Lawton. While most tools will be available, feel free to bring your preferred gloves and trimmers. Looking forward to seeing you there!
Our playground gates are now locked at night – there has been vandalism and trespassing on our campus at night recently, so we will be continuing to lock the playground at night over the summer.
Lawton at the Magnolia Summerfest Parade –
The Summerfest Parade is always a blast, and this year will be even better because Lawton will be a part of it! Join us on August 3rd in the Village. The parade line-up begins at 9am at 34th Ave W and W Raye St. We don’t have our position number yet but will announce it before the event (keep an eye on the PTA website). In order to participate, you need to sign the waiver, and an adult needs to accompany their child(ren), drop off is not available. Wear your Lawton spirit wear, bring candy if you like, and have fun
Jump Start for Kindergarten: August 20-22
First Day of School, grades 1-5 (no early release this day): 9/4
Kindergarten Family Connection Meetings: 9/4-9/6
First Day of Kindergarten: 9/9
School Supplies –
Lawton is continuing with a $40 supply fee for the 2024-25 school year instead of requiring families to provide supplies. Please ensure your student brings a backpack and water bottle, as we will provide the rest for them. You can conveniently pay the fee online through SchoolPay (accessible on The Source) now. The decision to implement this fee was supported by Lawton’s Building Leadership Team because it standardizes equitable supplies that are ready the 1st day of school. Scholarships and waivers are available if the fee would pose a financial burden for your family.
PTA Back To School Bash (BTSB) help needed – rising 5th grade parents to LEAD planning committee –
The PTA is moving to having each grade level lead an evening event, so with the BTSB scheduled on 9/26, we are asking next year’s 5th grade parents for help in planning their one grade level event of the year. We need a parent committee chair and members to coordinate this event ASAP. We plan to follow this past year’s low-key format with some easily planned activities & food trucks & a chance to gather and socialize outside of school hours. Please email vicepresidents if interested.
PTA 2024-25 School Year Committee help needed –
The PTA is looking to fill a few committee chair & member positions, these are separate from PTA board membership, please email vicepresidents if you’re interested:
– Back pack Committee Lead
– Staff Appreciation Lead
– Art docent lead/co-chairs
– Fundraising committee members
