Lawton Families,

This has been a fantastic year and I can’t believe it is almost over!  Please note that on the last day of school, Wednesday, June 18, we will dismiss at 1:25pm, not 1:10pm, as it is not an early release day but rather is a 60-minute early dismissal day.

End of Year Celebrations

Field Day is on Friday, June 13, so be sure to send a water bottle and apply sunscreen at home!  We are so grateful to our amazing Lawton PTA for running this all-day event – and appreciate the volunteers who make it happen!

In addition to everyone who volunteers with PTA, I want to also thank the volunteers who helped us with school activities this year.  We are so grateful for your help in running the WAVE Store (Vanessa and Laura!), shelving books in the library, chaperoning field trips, supervising Safety Patrol (Christie, Robin, Grant, Brent, and Joe!), picking up weekend food bags, volunteering in classrooms, donating gift cards to support Lawton families, serving on BLT (Ashley, January, Christine!), presenting at Career Night and so much more!

Last week we had the K-2 Talent Show, and the 3rd – 5th graders will perform this week – thank you to Ms. Kinder and Ms. Godon for doing this wonderful event!

Last Friday Ms. McDonagh’s class had an evening performance & family potluck, and this week Ms. Dominguez’s class is celebrating the publishing of their class book (which is also entered into the National Book Challenge by the publisher!), and Mr. Via and Mr. Conner’s classes are celebrating their writing with families on Thursday.  The 4th grade Sneaker Collection campaign met and exceeded their goal of saving 1000 shoes from landfills – and Ms. Leache thanks our families for supporting the class community service project this year.

Summer Resources

Report cards will be printed and sent home on the last day of school.  Grades will also be published on the Source in July.

Make sure to check out the Seattle Public Library’s Summer Reading activities, visit local parks, and go to Magnolia Summerfest on August 1-3!

Planning for next year

The first day of school for grades 1-5 is 9/3, and you will get an email on 8/28 from your 25-26 school year teacher:

K – Lundgren, Dominguez, McDonagh (K first day is 9/8)

1 – Conner, Via, Polik (Andrea Polik will be the long term sub while Ms. Wyman is on a 1 year leave)
