Ways to support literacy month at home:
- Submit a picture of your student being “caught reading” for us to display on a hallway bulletin board. Email photos to kmcerise.
- Contribute to our Spring Book Drive on now.
- Check out one or more of the books nominated for a Washington Children’s Choice Picture Book Award this year.
- Do a family read aloud. Kids are never too old for this! Click here for some ideas.
- Talk to your 4th or 5th grader about their Reading Odyssey. Which genre is their favorite? Why?
Lost and Found
All items remaining in the lost and found at Spring Break will be donated. Please make a point to check the racks next week. We put the lost and found outside the front doors each morning and leave it there until the end of the school day.
Food Drive for Ukrainian Community Center of Washington – 4/1 – 4/7
Ms. Hafzalla’s class is leading a nonperishable food item drive for the Ukrainian Community Center of Washington. The organization is looking for nonperishable items that expire no later than six months from now (e.g., canned goods, rice, pasta). Shipping containers of nonperishable items are being sent to Poland and then to Ukrainian refugees as the costs of goods go up daily.
Donations accepted Monday through Thursday next week. Able to pack up our collection and deliver it to the center on Friday? Please email rkhafzalla to volunteer.
