Subject: Principal Newsletter – April 30, 2021
The week of May 3rd – 7th is Teacher Appreciation Week. I want to take this opportunity to not only thank all of the teachers at staff at Lawton who work so hard to design learning experiences for our students but to thank all of our families and community members as well.
Over the course of the last 13 months parents have been more involved in direct teaching of their own children than ever before. The partnerships between school and home have been the key for making this year a positive experience for our students. Thank you for your efforts and teamwork!
School and Classroom Planning for Next Year (K – 4th grade families only)
As we plan for next year, it’s helpful for us to know if you plan to return to Lawton. Having a good idea of our enrollment numbers helps us when building classes and assigning staff to grade levels. Please complete THIS ONLINE FORM by May 1st.
There are two parts to the form:
- Part 1 (Required): Let us know if you are returning to Lawton next year.
- Part 2 (Optional): Provide feedback on your student’s strengths, challenges, and learning style. While we do not take teacher requests, we value your expertise about your student. Great care and consideration is given to each child’s placement, whether you submit input or not.
Timely Attestation Reminder
Please remember to complete attestation by 7am if you are in the morning cohort and by 10:45am if you are in the PM cohort. Our office staff need that hour of time to run reports and get ready for arrival.
From School Nurse: Reporting chronic conditions and when to stay home/return to school
A BIG thank you for your unified efforts to keep our Lawton family healthy and safe by following Covid-19 precautions and keeping your child home when they’re sick. This is a friendly reminder to email Nurse Somi (srahlbeck) if your child has a chronic condition with symptoms similar to Covid-19 (e.g. seasonal allergies, headaches/migraines, constipation).
Of course, colds and other illnesses may happen, and it can be difficult to decipher when to keep your child home and when they can return to school. The district follows guidance from King County Public Health for when a child can return to school. If you have questions about your child’s illness or when they are able to return, please reach out to the school nurse at srahlbeck.
