Principal Newsletter – February 17, 2023

We enjoyed celebrating Valentine’s Day this week. Thank you to all the volunteers who donated time and treats to classroom celebrations, and to the PTA bakers who treated our staff to sweets as well!

We hope next week’s mid-winter break gives you quality time with the ones you love. We look forward to seeing students back in class on Monday, February 27th.

Global Reading Challenge

Congratulations to the fourth and fifth grade readers who completed the Global Reading Challenge on Wednesday! Team Snow Leopards (Dalia, Eloise, Lucy, Madeline, Marte, Naiya, and Serenity) had the highest score. They will travel to the Seattle Central library in March to represent Lawton in a competition against other teams from around the city. Go Lawton Readers!

Lost and Found

Please check the lost and found and remember to label all items you want returned. Unlabeled lost and found items remaining at the end of the day today will be donated.

Pi Night

Mark your calendars for March 14th. It’s Pi Day and we’re going to celebrate with math games and pie! Plan to join us from 5:30 – 6:30pm in the cafeteria. Bringing a pie is optional but encouraged (sweet or savory, store-bought or homemade). Math game donations still being accepted in the front office.

It’s Time to Order Your Yearbooks

The PTA’s yearbook committee has been busily taking pictures at school and is putting together a special keepsake of the past and upcoming months. Order your yearbooks here, and while you’re at it, consider donating a book for Lawton families in need – thank you! More information regarding the ordering process can be found here.
