Principal Newsletter – February 3, 2023

Today’s school spirit day filled our hallways with joyful rainbow colors and the WAVE store caused lots of smiles as students redeemed their WAVE coupons for prizes.

Next week is National School Counseling Week. Our school counselor, Erica Barry, provides a wide range of supports at Lawton. She serves as a liaison for families in need, provides social emotional learning instruction in our classrooms, hosts social groups, and meets individually with students. Her work is a key component to Lawton’s systems of support for students and families and we are grateful for her.

Dress Warm and Label Your Layers

Please make sure your student is dressed to comfortably play outside every day. Remember to label all coats and outerwear with your student’s name. Our goal is to return items to their owners, but we can only do that if they are labeled.

Covid Test Expiration Extension

The FDA approved an additional shelf-life extension for some COVID-19 tests. As long as a control line is visible, even if the line is faint, the test can continue to be used and should not be discarded.

Seeking Donations

We have a growing list of donations that would be helpful for the school and community:

  • Grocery gift cards. We’d like to provide grocery gift cards to our families in need to help with food security over Mid-Winter Break. Able to help? Sign up here.
  • Valentines. Have a box of Valentines to donate? We can put them to good use.
  • Math Games. Still seeking math games in good working order for our upcoming Pi Night.
  • Leggings, sweats, socks, and underwear. The nurse’s office is running low on changes of clothes in small and medium sizes. No zippers or buttons please.
  • Kleenex. Always welcome.
