Seymour Kaplan Award
This week we honored our 5th graders with a promotion ceremony that celebrated all their growth so far and sent them off to middle school where we are excited to see them continue to grow. Thank you to the many volunteers and 5th grade families who made the event so special and helped with set up and take down. We were particularly proud to honor Grace Desilets and Zoe Whissell-Cote with this year’s Seymour Kaplan award. Seymour Kaplan Award recipients are nominated by their peers for their work in building relationships and treating everyone with dignity, kindness, and respect. Congratulations Grace and Zoe!

Goodbye Season
June is always a time for goodbyes—some just for the summer, some for longer. We want to take a moment here to honor our departing staff members:
- Susanna Baggerly, Instructional Assistant
- Sam Johnson, School Psychologist
- Emmy Misner, 3rd Grade
- Zeb Scanlan, Instructional Assistant
- Lauren Thompson, Kindergarten
They have all contributed to the fabric of the Lawton Community and we wish them well in their next endeavors. It’s not all goodbyes. We’ll be saying hello to Kathlene Dominguez who will be joining Lawton as a Kindergarten teacher next year. She has most recently been working with VOPP (SPS’s virtual learning option).
Report Cards
Report cards went home this week. Check those backpacks! If you need an electronic copy, email kmcerise.
