Principal Newsletter – November 4, 2022

As the weather turns and the mornings are darker, we are seeing an increase in dangerous conditions at morning drop off. Please help us keep students and families safe by following these expectations:

Students arriving by car should:

  • Be packed and ready to exit the car independently
  • Exit car on the sidewalk side of the car in the loading zone (not in the circle)

Drivers using 27th street as their drop off area should:

  • Wait in a single-file line once entering 27th street – do not pass cars waiting to unload
  • Stay in the driver’s seat, do not exit car

Other ways Lawton families can contribute to a safer morning drop-off for all:

  • Arrive on campus at 7:40 to reduce the last-minute surge of cars and people
  • Use the morning school bus if your student has a transportation assignment
  • Drive slow and focused, regardless of how stressed/frazzled the morning may have been
  • Park on neighborhood streets instead of using the dead-end street in front of the school
  • Consider walking or biking to school

Time to Claim Lost and Found Items

Our lost and found is full of water bottles, coat, sweatshirts, and other lost items. Please look at the racks outside the building entrance next time you are at school. We return labeled items to students, so please make names on/in anything you want returned. Unclaimed items will be donated after conference week.

Picture Retakes November 8th

Retakes will occur on Tuesday, November 8th – we will take photos of all students who were absent on the original picture days as well as photos of our three re-configured 3rd grade classes.

Email kmcerise if your student received a school photo but would like a retake. Original photos must be returned to the photographer on retake day (you can keep your class photo). Review photos at https://www.greyskypro.com/lawton (click on the 2022-2023 folder and use the password “Lawton2223”.
