On the first Friday of each month we celebrate the spirit of Joining the WAVE at Lawton. Students and staff dress up for spirit days and trade their WAVE tickets for items from the WAVE store. Today’s silly socks were such fun! As we move into the gloomier winter months these traditions keep our Lawton Dolphins joyfully connected to one another. Thank you for being an important part of our community.
Lost and found donation timing – and a plea for names on jackets
Please take time to check the lost and found when you are on campus. We put it outside the main entrance. We sorted through more than 50 items and only found names on four of them. Please, please, pretty-please mark your student’s name on their outer layers so that we can return them to their rightful owners when found. All items remaining on Friday, November 19th will be donated.
Picture day updates
We know many of you are anxiously awaiting your student’s school photos. There are supply chain and labor shortage holdups causing delays at the print lab. Our photographer is doing all she can to expedite things. Thank you for your patience. At this point, we are going to stick with our planned retakes on November 16th but will adjust the schedule if needed based on final delivery of round one.
Source password changes
Source password requirements for parents are changing from 8 to 12 characters. The new requirement goes into effect on November 15th. No password change needed for students, but adults with passwords that don’t meet the requirement will see a popup on their screen asking them to change their password to at least 12 characters with no apostrophe.
Travel Guidance
With Lawton students now eligible for vaccinations, we’re receiving more inquiries about family travel and absences. We continue to encourage families to travel during scheduled school breaks because extended student absences are disruptive to their learning and to the classroom community. Please note, teachers do not provide learning materials to students missing school for discretionary travel.
Health and Safety
Lawton Covid Update. This week (11/1 – 11/5), Lawton sent zero classroom COVID notifications.
SPS is hiring substitutes
Seattle Public Schools is currently hiring substitutes for all positions – teachers, instructional assistants, culinary services, and office professionals. Please click here for more information about how to become an emergency certificated substitute teacher or learn more about other positions.
