As we close out another week, I want to thank everyone who participated in our Curriculum Night Open House. We enjoyed meeting families and watching students show you around our building. Events that bring home and school together to support and celebrate student learning are a powerful reminder of the great partnerships we have at Lawton.
Our week was also brightened by everyone’s adorable picture day smiles. If you forgot to order pictures, it’s not too late. You can order online here.
A few reminders to help get the year off to a smooth and healthy start:
- Submit student questionnaire. Thank you to the 100+ families who completed this already. If you haven’t had a chance to do so – either online or through a paper form provided by your teacher in your first day packet – please take a moment now. Click HERE to complete the questionnaire.
- Stay home when sick. Help us keep students and staff healthy by keeping kids home any time they are sick – even if they are testing negative for Covid. Students should stay home for a day to watch any new symptoms and follow this flow chartto determine the timeline for returning to school. If students arrive at school feeling ill, they will be sent home.
- Make sure students know end of day plans. Please make sure your student knows their end-of-day plan every morning before leaving home. They should arrive at school confident about if they are riding the bus home and/or who is picking them up and where to meet. If plans change, please email lawton by noon so that we have time to pass along a message.
Lawton Family Career Exploration Night is October 18th
We hope you can join us for Lawton’s Family Career Exploration night from 5:30pm to 6:30pm on October 18th in the commons. We are looking for family members interested willing to share a little about their jobs and answer questions students may have – no prep work required! We are looking for a wide range of careers: healthcare, engineering, technology, hospitality, performance professions, and helping professions. If you are interested in sharing about your work, please complete this form so our school counselor, Ms. Barry, can reach out with next steps.
The Lawton After-School Enrichment (ASE) Program is back!
The Lawton PTA has partnered with 6Crickets to bring students a variety of classes. Registration opens Wednesday, September 28th at 12am and closes on Wednesday, October 12th at 11:59 pm. The Fall session will run from Monday, October 17th to Friday, December 16th. Check out the vicepresidents with questions.
