Thank you for attending our Curriculum Connections meetings this week with teachers. Students are continuing to engage in learning activities that connect community building and social emotional learning with academics. Examples of this include “I come from” poems in 4th grade and other writing prompts like: who am I, I can tame the beast by, and I can be a good friend by. Ask your student about the writing they did this week.
We really appreciate your efforts to get students to school on time! Help us on track by:
- Getting students to campus by 7:45 so that they are ready to enter the building when the bell rings at 7:50 and in class and ready to learn at 7:55.
- Emailing lawton by 7:50am if your student will arrive late or miss school for travel or illness.
- Checking in at the office any time your student arrives on campus after the doors close at 7:55.
We appreciate your partnership and commitment to making on-time arrivals a priority. Having the whole class together when morning routines start at 7:55 makes a big difference for our students and staff. If you are struggling with on-time arrivals, teachers and office staff are happy to meet with you to discuss strategies and concerns.
HEALTH AND SAFETY
Lawton Covid Update. This week (9/20– 24), Lawton sent zero classroom COVID notifications.
Current Travel Recommendations for Unvaccinated Students. With several long weekends and holidays coming up, we want to remind families that current DOH and CDC travel recommendations for unvaccinated people (e.g. Lawton students) include getting tested 3-5 days after your trip and staying home in self-quarantine for a full 7 days after travel, even if your test is negative (10 days of self-quarantine if you don’t get tested).

Dinner with Damoori Kitchen. The Lawton PTA has partnered with Damoori Kitchen, a locally owned Lebanese cafe, for a fundraising dinner night. Pre-order one of their signature dishes by Monday September 27th for pickup on Wednesday, September 29th. 25% of your order will go to Lawton’s PTA. Click here to order!
