Lawton PTA has chosen Bailey Gatzert Elementary as our SPS partner school and we hope that this is the beginning of a long-term partnership between our schools. Our partnership with Bailey Gatzert developed out of an existing relationship cultivated by Lawton's PTA Outreach Committee. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DI2-_5ufPUQ Located in the Central District, Bailey Gatzert serves a population of ~300 pre-K through grade 5 students. At Gatzert, 94% of the population are students of color, 33% of students are English Language Learners, and 18% are students with disabilities. Our Dolphin Dreams direct drive fundraiser is an important opportunity for the community to come together to support programs such as library books & support, school counselor, student technology licenses and so much more. The primary goal of the Dolphin Dreams campaign is to reach 100% participation so that all members of our community come together to support the students, teachers, staff, and families at the school. Washington State PTA eSurvey 2020!
Member voice matters — please take a few minutes and complete our Lawton Elementary PTA e-survey. There’s a wide range of advocacy issues and we need your voice to help our PTA delegates vote on the Top 5 issues that are most important to us. The survey also includes other proposed positions that delegates will vote on to develop the WSPTA platform. The issues all support the health, education, and welfare of children and youth but the proposed platform covers a wide spectrum of advocacy positions and legislative policies from increasing access to mental health to preventing gun violence and suicide to closing the digital divide. There are also eight resolutions with topics ranging from access to recess and unstructured play to improving outcomes in special education to dismantling institutional and systemic racism. Plus one

PTA Board Open Positions – We Need YOU!
This year, more than ever, we will need to support one another. Sometimes, volunteering gives one a sense of purpose and connection within the community, and we are hoping this sentiment applies to you!Our PTA Board is looking for a new Member-At-Large volunteer whose main responsibilities are to manage the strategy and tactics associated with the annual PTA membership campaign and keep the membership database up to date and an Advocacy Chair who will work to inform our PTA about education and equity issues, PTA legislative goals, and advise the PTA Board on how to effectively advocate for our students and their families. Not only will you be a great help to the PTA, you’ll have the opportunity to meet monthly with the PTA Board and Dr. Deno to hear school updates.We also are looking for chairs for the following positions:Art
Represent Lawton PTA at the State PTA Assembly Oct 24!
Interested in representing Lawton PTA as a delegate at the WSPTA Legislative Assembly on October 24th and 25th? Any PTA member is welcome to attend the WSPTA Legislative Assembly. The registration cost of $25 includes access to all classes, educational opportunities, caucusing and materials. For an attendee to also have the privilege of participating in the debate and vote during general session, they must be designated as an authorized voting delegate by the president of their PTA by 11:59 pm, October 6.
