Special Education 2020 School Start Info

Dear Families of Students Receiving Special Education Services, Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year. We have been working diligently over the summer to uplift summer programming and to plan for the return of our students and staff. While we are disappointed that we are unable to welcome you back to buildings face-to-face, we are excited to build relationships with students and families during the Strong Start. Our teams have been planning and building systems to support more robust remote learning practices. 2020-2021 Changes There are two significant changes for this fall, in alignment with the most recent guidance from the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI): We will be implementing IEPs as written, to the greatest extent possible, and We will be providing specially designed instruction remotely, through both live (synchronous) and recorded

Principal’s Newsletter July 24th 2020

Dear Lawton Families: I hope your family is finding some time to relax this summer. My dog is the best alarm clock each morning, waking us up for our daily neighborhood walk. I have also been spending time on the deck enjoying the sunshine and games of Uno with my family. I write today to share a few updates with you. Please join me in welcoming Briana Veleber as our part-time Physical Education Teacher. She will replace Jana Kohler who has taken a full time PE position at another school. While we are sad to see Ms. Kohler go, we are excited to get to know Ms. Veleber! The school itself has been busy this summer. The Boys and Girls Club is on site with students daily.
