It’s time to show Lawton Staff our LOVE! 

Staff Appreciation Week is May 8th to 12th!

The Lawton PTA is generously providing a coffee cart on Monday and catered lunches for all staff on Tuesday and Thursday. Geni’s Ethiopian Catering is donating desserts on Friday. We’re hoping Lawton families will match this generosity by donating breakfast items to compliment the coffee cart on Monday, snacks for Wednesday, desserts on Tuesday and Thursday, and drinks for the entire week. 

If you are interested in contributing, please review this Sign Up Genius to sign up. We’d love to have a combination of store-bought grab-and-go items and homemade items (please include ingredient list).

Sounders FC has invited Lawton students and their families to participate in School Night at the Sounders! They are offering discounted tickets to all local schools for our May 7^th match. Families can purchase their own tickets with THIS LINK if they are interested.

The event is May 7th at 1:30 PM.

Movie Night – April 28

One of our students initiated this fun Movie Night event, and the PTA is making it happen! If it is successful, we hope to host more events like these in the future.

We can’t do it without the help of volunteers! Please consider signing up!

After School Enrichment

The PTA is in need of a parent volunteer who can be on-site on Mondays from 2:15-4:15pm to assist. The volunteer makes sure that the instructors arrive and check attendance, makes sure everyone gets picked up by their caregivers and instructors leave the building. It’s a very easy gig!

For helping out, the PTA will cover the cost of your child/ren if they are in any enrichment classes!

Lawton Move-A-Thon

The Move-a-Thon is a festive, supportive opportunity for our kids to run, walk, skip and dance around the upper field for 30 minutes. It’s a fun-filled day with lots of parent involvement and a big accomplishment for our kiddos.

The Loyal Heights Elementary School PTA is hosting an informational night about Autism and ADHD.

Our committee has been busily taking pictures at school and is putting together a special keepsake of the past and upcoming months. Order your yearbooks here, and while you’re at it, please consider donating a book for Lawton families in need – thank you! More information regarding the ordering process can be found here.

Next year’s school year calendar has been approved, and key dates are now posted to the district website. The first day of school for grades 1-12 is Wednesday, Sept. 6. The first day of school for preschool and kindergarten is Monday, Sept. 11.

Key Dates for 2023-24

September 6 First day of school for 1st – 12th grade students

Sept. 6 is not an early release Wednesday. Early release will occur every Wednesday except for the first week of school.

September 11 First day of school for preschool and kindergarten students

October 13 State In-service Day (no school for students)

November 10 Veterans Day Observed (no school)

November 20-22 Elementary conference days (no school for elementary and K-8 students; varies by school)

November 23-24 Thanksgiving and Native American Heritage Day (no school)

December 15 1-hour early dismissal

December 18-January 1, 2024 Winter break (no school)

January 15 Martin Luther King Jr. Day (no school)

February 19-23 Mid-winter break, including Presidents Day (no school)

April 8-12 Spring break (no school)

May 27 Memorial Day (no school)

June 19 Juneteenth (no school)

June 21 Last day of school (1-hour early dismissal).

Potential emergency closure makeup days are June 24-26.
