Bus Riders: You are included! Car Riders: Consider parking a number of blocks away that matches your grade level, then walk to school. School pick-up and drop-off times can be hectic with many idling cars in the same area. Walking, biking, or rolling to school helps reduce congestion and makes the air cleaner to breathe. Fun Facts: Walking to school can help you feel more awake and ready to learn. Kids who walk to school often do better in class because exercise helps improve concentration. Walking with friends is a great way to start the day and can make the walk to school more fun. Walking helps build strong bones and muscles, which is important as you grow. Come by the prize table and let us know how you got to school Thursday morning.

Returning to Lawton Survey Now that it is May, we are starting to plan for next school year already! We have an electronic Returning to Lawton Next Year? survey that we need all families to complete for each of your Lawton students by May 9. Move-a-thon: May 16, 2025
Our 2025 Spring PTA Move-a-Thon Fundraiser is on NOW! Our goal is to raise $35,000 to cover the remainder of our annual PTA budget. When: Wed, Apr 30 - Fri, May 16 Where: Lawton Elementary School On Friday May 16, our Dolphins will run, walk, skip, jump, or dance for 30 minutes to raise money for our school. Lawton Families,We are now two weeks away from Spring Break, and even with the excitement of spring and the coming school break, teachers are really noticing that our students are in their best “learning zone” this time of year. Last week we had a visit from the Superintendent, Dr. Jones, and he got the chance to say hello to 4th graders, see & hear 1st graders prepare for their music concert (and show off our Lawton Dolphin song for him), talk to 5th graders about their math work and about being school leaders, and see 3rd graders creating art with our visiting artist – as well as touring our school and meeting with staff – in all it was a great opportunity to showcase our amazing school!Career Exploration Night- Volunteers needed!Come participate in our favorite Lawton

Save the date for our next PTA fundraiser and all around fun day for students - the Move-A-Thon is on Friday, May 16th! More details about participation and fundraising are coming soon, but in short, students walk/run/skip/jump - any sort of movement! - around the upper ball field at Lawton during the school day to raise funds for the PTA (funds for classroom size reduction, reading specialist, playground monitors, STEAM week and science exhibit, etc). New this year, we are offering Lawton branded t-shirts that kids can wear for both Move-A-Thon and Field Day (Friday, June 13th). Order by Monday, April 7th to receive your shirt on time for Move-A-Thon and be a part of the Lawton rainbow! Lawton Families, This week we welcome the start of spring on Thursday, and Trimester 2 of the school year will end on Wednesday. Teachers will then enter data into the Elementary Progress Report on the Source and families will be able to see the progress reports on the Source on or before Spring Break. We Love Our Lawton PTA! Last week we had our annual celebration of “Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math” (STEAM) and it was both an exciting and an enlightening week of learning at Lawton. I loved seeing students sharing their creative cardboard challenge items with their peers, as well as playing fun math games, combining geometry and art, and learning about Space with the Pacific Science Center Community Educators.
