Lawton Families - As we head into the last week of school before our Winter Break, here are some announcements and reminders for you to consider: Elementary Progress Reports The EPR will be available on Monday, Dec. 18 in the Source - we only print the final progress report in June, so you can find the December and March EPRs online. Directions on how to access the Source are available on the SPS website. Inclement weather and device info This school year Seattle Public Schools again plans to shift to remote learning if there is inclement weather and buildings are closed. All students will bring home their district issued device over the Winter Break in case remote learning is needed on January 2. If there is no need for remote learning on January 2, please
Cookie Drive for Lawton Staff (Wednesday, December 13th)
No matter how the cookie crumbles, we have the best teachers around. Let's show them how much we appreciate them by baking holiday cookies for them to eat and share. Love to bake or do you have a favorite savory or salty holiday snack you make, please sign up here. Donations of homemade treats are needed on Wednesday, December 13th. Treats can be dropped off to the bin located outside the main entrance to the school between 7:40-9am.
Volunteers Needed – Lawton Book Fair
The Book Fair is just around the corner in January! It will take place from January 12 - 19. We need volunteers to make this much-loved event a success! Please CLICK HERE to sign up for a slot.
After School Enrichment – Winter Session
It’s time to register for the upcoming winter session of our popular After School Enrichment program. You will see many familiar classes, such as Coding, Basketball and Watercolors, plus a new Lego STEM program. The winter session will run from January 8 till March 21, 2024. Registration opens on Wednesday, December 6th at 7:00am and closes on Wednesday, December 20th at 11:59pm. Lawton Families, I hope everyone had an enjoyable short break last week! It was so wonderful to see families attending conferences with our staff last week, and our goal with conferences is open the door to really impactful two-way communication about all of our students over the course of the year. We have 1 week left in the first trimester of this school year, and then teachers will create progress reports in December that you will be able to view on the Source after Dec. 18. There are only a few days left to participate in the 2023/2024 Direct Drive. THE LAST DAY IS THIS WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 29th. Lawton Families, This week (11/13-16) our 5th grade students will be going to Islandwood Camp – which is a very exciting and a wonderful experience for Lawton students – but this does mean that there will be no Safety Patrol at 27th and Elmore while they are gone. We’ll do our best to have a staff member at the intersection, but please exercise caution and patience with car drop off, walkers crossing streets, and biking to school this week. Family Conferences Please note that the week of 11/20-24 there is no school for Elementary-aged students in Seattle Public Schools. Middle and High school students do have school on 11/20-22, and all students have no school 11/23-24 for the Thanksgiving holiday. Direct Drive: “Participate Only” Issue
Dear Lawton Community, It has recently come to our attention that Participate Only submissions on our Dolphin Dreams Direct Drive site were not recorded due to changes in how schoolauction.net (the 3rd party site we use for Direct Drive) stores data. This does not affect submissions for participants who made a financial contribution. While this does not impact the funds we are collecting, it does impact how we track our participation goal across classrooms. The Ask For those of you who selected the Participate Only option on the Dolphin Dreams Direct Drive site, we kindly ask that you complete the survey linked to below.
