PTA Budget Update

The results are in. The proposed PTA Budget for the 2021-2022 school year was approved with 90% of votes in favor.

路      55% voted to approve budget as presented

路      35% voted to approve and would like an increase in Community Outreach

路      10% did not approve the budget, but would do so without Community Outreach

Thank you to the 33 families who completed the ballot and all our PTA members for showing your support of Lawton PTA and our teachers.

We also want to remind our community of our continuing efforts to fundraise for THIS year. We still need to raise approximately $50,000 to fund our librarian and counselor and fulfill other commitments we鈥檝e made to聽Lawton teachers and programs. We plan to raise these funds through the spring Move-A-Thon (1st week of May) and passive fundraising events like Taco Tuesday and the Nutty Squirrel Community Cookie kits.

Call to action from Seattle Council PTSA

If not addressed by the legislature in Olympia, Seattle’s school funding from the state will be radically different next year due to enrollment declines during COVID-19. Urgent action by our lawmakers is needed to preserve teacher positions, transportation, and the overall capacity to resume a more normal educational experience when the time comes.

Contact your Legislators and ask for funding to address enrollment stabilization in the budget.聽聽 You can call the聽Legislative Hotline: 1.800.562.6000 and leave a聽message for your Legislators.聽 You can do this in your preferred language and your message will be translated for your Legislators.聽聽 You can also email your Legislators.聽 Find your Legislators by using the District Finder at聽聽https://app.leg.wa.gov/DistrictFinder/
